Our Take
Tangerine World Mastercard is a flexible credit card designed for everyday use. It comes with numerous exclusive perks and benefits and provides competitive cash-back rewards.
As an upgrade to the Tangerine Money-Back card, it delivers the same convenience and ease of use and brings some of the most appealing World Mastercard VIP benefits.
The online application is simplified and streamlined, so if you meet the qualifications and eligibility requirements, you could have this card in your wallet in no time.
Who Is This Card for?
This card is designed for responsible users who want to increase their savings and enjoy the benefits of using a card from the Mastercard network for their everyday purchases.
It’s primarily aimed at those with a good or excellent credit score. However, anyone who meets the eligibility criteria can apply, even if they have a fair or poor credit score.
To qualify for the card, you need to be a legal permanent Canadian resident, at least 18 years old (19 in some provinces), and you need to have a minimum income of $60,000. In case you don’t meet the income requirement, you could get approved for the card if you have a household income of at least $100,000, or if you have over $250,000 in your savings account or investment funds account from Tangerine.
Tangerine World Mastercard Benefits
The most appealing benefit of the Tangerine World Mastercard is the generous 2% money-back reward on everyday purchases from up to three selected categories. Tangerine offers you ten options to choose from, gas, recurring bill payments, public transportation and parking, home improvement, groceries, and more. For categories that aren’t in your top three choices, you’ll receive a 0.5% money-back reward.
Additional benefits include four types of insurance, including the rare mobile device insurance, World Mastercard VIP perks, free Boingo Wi-Fi, and more.
Are There Any Disadvantages?
The biggest disadvantage of the Tangerine World Mastercard is the high qualification requirements. If you don’t have an individual income of $60,000 or a household income of $100,000, you won’t qualify for the card.
If you’re late for your payments or take out cash advances, be prepared to pay high-interest rates and fees. While the card doesn’t have annual fees, it does have other fees that are slightly higher than average, so keep this in mind.
Should You Use Tangerine World Card?
If you meet the eligibility criteria and find the card’s features and perks appealing, you should apply for Tangerine World Mastercard. As long as it’s used responsibly, the card can provide you with supercharged savings and additional perks you won’t find elsewhere.
You can add up to five authorized users to your account and benefit from the additional savings you’ll get with the cash-back rewards.
